An older style valve controlled by multiple turns of a round wheel handle. Common on low-pressure gravity-fed pipework near water tanks and cylinders.

Near cold water storage tanks in the loft and on supplies to hot water cylinders.

🔍 How to identify it

Round metal wheel handle — requires several full turns to open or close, unlike a quarter-turn ball valve. Available in 22 mm or 28 mm.
