Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using PlumbingAdvice.co.uk ("the Site"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Site. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time, and continued use of the Site constitutes acceptance of any changes.
2. Nature of the Service
PlumbingAdvice.co.uk provides general plumbing and heating information, diagnostic guides, educational content, and associated services for informational purposes only. The Site is operated by a Gas Safe registered heating engineer and qualified plumber. However, the information provided does not constitute professional advice for your specific situation. Every property and plumbing system is different. The Site is not a substitute for a qualified engineer inspecting your property in person. Costs, timeframes, and recommended actions are estimates and may vary significantly based on your location, system type, and the specific nature of the fault.
3. Gas Safety — Critical Notice
Working on gas appliances, boilers, and gas pipework without Gas Safe registration is illegal in the United Kingdom. This Site never provides instructions for DIY gas repairs. Any scenario involving gas components directs users to a Gas Safe registered engineer. You must always use a Gas Safe registered engineer for all gas work, verify an engineer's registration at gassaferegister.co.uk before allowing them to work, and if you smell gas — leave the property immediately, do not operate any electrical switches, and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
4. Pro Subscription
PlumbingAdvice.co.uk offers a paid "Pro" subscription tier. By subscribing, you agree to the following: (a) Billing — your subscription is billed monthly or annually in advance via Stripe. Payment is due at the start of each billing period. (b) Auto-renewal — subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled. You will not receive a reminder before renewal. (c) Cancellation — you may cancel at any time via your account dashboard. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Pro access until then. (d) Refunds — we do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by UK consumer law. If you believe you have been charged in error, contact us within 14 days. (e) Price changes — we will give at least 30 days' notice of any price increase, via email to the address on your account. (f) Free trials — where a free trial is offered, it will convert to a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial period unless cancelled beforehand.
5. Engineer Job Leads Marketplace
PlumbingAdvice.co.uk operates a job leads marketplace connecting homeowners with tradespeople. The following terms apply: (a) For homeowners — job postings are free. By submitting a job post, you confirm the information is accurate and that you are the property owner or have authority to authorise the work. We do not guarantee that a matching tradesperson will be found. (b) For engineers — access to homeowner job leads may require payment. Payment for a lead grants access to the homeowner's contact details for that specific job only. Lead fees are non-refundable once contact details have been viewed. (c) We act as an introducer only — we are not a party to any contract between homeowner and engineer, do not guarantee any engineer's workmanship, and are not responsible for disputes arising from work carried out. (d) Engineers listed on the directory must hold all required registrations (Gas Safe, OFTEC, MCS or other relevant certification) for the trades they advertise. We may remove listings or suspend access if this is found not to be the case.
6. AI Parts Identification Service
The AI Parts Identification feature uses artificial intelligence to suggest possible matching parts based on photos or descriptions you provide. This service is provided on the following basis: (a) Results are suggestions only — AI identification is not guaranteed to be accurate. Always verify part numbers against your appliance manual or manufacturer documentation before purchasing. (b) We are not liable for incorrect parts purchased based on AI suggestions. (c) Where a fee is charged for this service, payment is taken via Stripe and is non-refundable once a result has been generated. (d) Images you upload are processed by our AI provider and are not stored permanently on our servers beyond the time required to generate a result.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, PlumbingAdvice.co.uk and its operators shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or expense arising from reliance on any information, guide, or diagnostic tool provided on this Site; any DIY repair or maintenance work carried out based on information from this Site; any inaccuracy, error, or omission in the content; work carried out by any engineer found through the Site; or any third-party products, services, or websites linked from this Site. You use this Site and act on its content entirely at your own risk. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any matter that cannot be excluded by UK law.
8. Accuracy of Information
All content is written or reviewed by a qualified UK plumber and heating engineer. However, plumbing systems, regulations, and product specifications change over time. Boiler fault codes and their meanings are provided in good faith based on manufacturer documentation and engineering experience. Always refer to your boiler's manual or contact the manufacturer directly for definitive guidance. If you notice an error, please use our contact form to report it.
9. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Relationships
This Site contains links to third-party websites and some links may be affiliate links — if you purchase through these links, we may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence our content or recommendations. We are not responsible for the content or practices of any third-party website.
10. User Accounts
If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information when registering. Engineer accounts must only advertise trades for which you hold valid, current certification. We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe contain false or misleading information.
11. Intellectual Property
All content on this Site — including text, guides, diagnostic flows, and the Symptom Checker — is the intellectual property of PlumbingAdvice.co.uk unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content for commercial purposes without prior written permission.
12. Governing Law
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
13. Contact
