Hive Thermostat Not Working
The Hive thermostat is one of the UK's most popular smart heating controls, but like any wireless device it can lose connection or stop responding. Most Hive problems are software or connectivity issues that you can fix yourself in under 30 minutes without calling a plumber.

Most likely cause & what to check
Check the Hive receiver (the white box wired to your boiler, usually in the airing cupboard or near the boiler). It should have a green light. If the light is off or amber, the receiver has lost power or signal.
Restart the Hive hub (the small device plugged into your router). Unplug it, wait 30 seconds, plug it back in and wait 2 minutes for it to reconnect.
Open the Hive app and check the thermostat status. If it shows "Offline", go to Settings > Hive devices and follow the reconnection steps.
Check your broadband router is working — Hive requires a working internet connection. If your broadband is down, Hive will not respond to app commands but the schedule it had set should still work locally.
If the thermostat display is blank, check the batteries (most Hive stats use AA batteries). Replace them and wait 30 seconds for the thermostat to reconnect to the hub.
If none of the above works, perform a factory reset: hold the centre button on the thermostat for 12 seconds until it resets, then re-pair it via the Hive app using the device code on the back.
If the heating runs but won't turn off, the Hive receiver may be stuck. Turn the receiver off at the wall for 30 seconds then back on.
