Compression Washer (Jumper Valve)

The rubber washer that seals against the tap seat in older compression taps. When the tap is turned, the washer is pressed against the seat to stop water flow.

Inside older pillar taps and outdoor taps, at the bottom of the tap spindle.

🔍 How to identify it

Small rubber disc, typically 12 mm or 3/4 inch diameter, black or red. Held onto a brass jumper plate by a small nut.
